Charles Wayne

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Charlie McGuirt will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Springhill United Methodist Church. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
On the evening of June 3, 2019, Charlie passed away in the comforts of his home surrounded by his family. Charlie was 82 years old.
A native of Burdette, Arkansas, he started his life with a military career after graduating high school. Charlie served two years in the United States Army being stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and later in Germany before being honorably discharged. From there, he began to work the land, where he managed his own custom harvesting business, and later saw the country from the windows of his 18-wheeler. Charlie will be remembered by most for being the "handy man." He began a home repair business that allowed him to meet the needs of so many.
Charlie will forever be remembered for his sweet spirit and tender soul. He was simple in nature. He appreciated the things in life most of us take for granted, such as a warm day fishing by the pond, the love of a furry friend that never left his side, or even a good can of cashews by his favorite recliner.
He always looked for the needs of others while never voicing any of his own. He truly had a servant's heart that lives on today in the memories of the many people who were fortunate to have known Charlie.
He had a heart of joy that spread to others through his infectious laugh. He could light up a room with tales of mischief from his early days in Arkansas. Even in his last days when every breath was a struggle, he would still give that "Charlie chuckle" from time to time.
He was a man of great faith. He loved God. Again, being simple in nature, Charlie believed if we'd all show a little more love and extend a little more grace, the world would be a better place.
Charlie was special for so many reasons and will be missed for so many more, but to all who knew him, most of all, we'll miss our friend. The old wisdom he shared when we came looking for answers, the warm smile that greeted us every time we came by for a visit, the encouragement he gave when times were hard, the love that he shared with so many, these are the things that we treasured the most.
He is survived by his wife, Idell McGuirt; brother, Danny McGuirt; son, Michael McGuirt (Gina); stepdaughters, Angela Gross and Jennifer Webb (Josh); sister-in-law, Mary Welch; a special cousin, Don McGuirt (Carol); 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Evie McGuirt; sister, Barbara Ann Barcom; brother, Thomas Edward McGuirt; and his son, Mark McGuirt.
The family requests memorials be made to Springhill United Methodist Church or the charity of your choosing.
