Deloris Dawn Walker
Deloris Dawn Walker, a longtime Alabama television journalist and program director, died May 5. She was 71.
Ms. Walker is a graduate of West End High School in York, Ala. She is a graduate of Miles College and Brown University, and isa veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Ms. Walker began her television broadcast career in Providence, and worked as a news anchor in West Virginia. She was news anchor at CBS 24 in Meridian. She also worked in Tuscaloosa and retired from CBS 42 in Birmingham.
Ms. Walker was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Neal Gibbs of Cuba, Ala. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Doshie Gibbs of Cuba, Ala.; an aunt, Mrs. Leola Brown of Bessemer, Ala.; a loving friend, Tom Williams of Jackson, Miss.; and a host of cousins.
Funeral will be Saturday, May 13, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Cuba, Ala., with burial in the Gibbs Cemetery, Cuba. Weatherly Funeral Home, York, is officiating. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Weatherly.
