Dr. Harry Gene Causey

Funeral services for Dr. Harry Gene Causey will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, May 4, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Meridian with Dr. Nathan VanHorn and Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Dr. Harry Gene Causey stepped into the arms of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, May 1, 2019. God's Word says, "Absent from the body is present with the Lord." Jesus promised that what He began in us at the time of our salvation He would complete; in Harry's Journey on earth was complete. Jesus told His disciples and tells us He would go to prepare a place for His children, and will come again, and receive them unto Himself that where He is, we would be also.
Here on earth we can only imagine what heaven is like but now Harry is experiencing it in the full reality of all that God has prepared for those who love Him. As we read in Luke 12:32 "Fear not little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom." He is more alive now than he had ever been. John 3:16 promises "For God so loved the World that He gave his only begotten son, that whoever believed in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." Dr. Causey grew up in Meridian and in First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, stewardship chairman, Sunday School Ministries, the Tuesday Men's Prayer Group; as well as headed up the Matthew 25 Ministry. He was also involved in the Baptist Medical and Dental Fellowship.
Dr. Causey served as a captain in the Army outpatient department at Ft. McClelland, Alabama, after which he practiced medicine for nine years in Lexington, MS. He was then invited to join the Rush Medical Group in 1968 where he continued his medical practice for 35 years. He was then the Director of the Transitional Care Unit for two years. He cared deeply for his patients and wanted them each to receive the best medical care possible. Harry Causey lived his life as a wonderful testimony of his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He touched many lives and ministered to their physical needs, and much more, their spiritual needs.
Harry and his wife Carilynn, the love of his life, were blessed with a long and happy marriage of 61 years. Together they were blessed with their precious daughter, Carrie, and their granddaughters, Hannah and Bethany, as well as one brother, Jack Causey. Niece, Kim Ray (Robby) and great-nephew, Miller Ray. Nephew, Richey Causey (Lynn), and great-nephews, Matthew and Michael Causey. First cousin, Margaret Ann Buckley; as well as a host of friends and church family.
Dr. Causey is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Babe Causey; and his sister in law, Mary Lib May Causey, who entered heaven's gate at the exact same moment.
The family request memorials be made to First Baptist Church Missions Committee in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses and Sitters, that helped care for him at Rush Foundation Hospital. We extend our love and gratitude for the many friends, who have come along beside us.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Bobby Berg, John Ellis, George Hill, Trey Long, Walter Rogers, Sr. and Scott Sills. Honorary pallbearers will be, Dr. Jimmy Matthews, Dr. Tony Fouts, Dr. Chuck Davenport, Lee Rogers, and Leonard Cobb as well as the Deacons of First Baptist Church and The Glenn Deweese Sunday School Class.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com
