Eugene Covington born July 31, 1930, died May 10, 2016, at the age of 85.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Memory Chapel with burial to follow at Lake Park Hills Cemetery in Laurel. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel.
Early in life he worked for Masonite Corporation. In 1968 he went into the ministry. He served at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Hebron United Methodist Church, Waynesboro Charge, Heidelberg United Methodist Church, Sandersville United Methodist Church, West Laurel, Mendenhall, Taylorsville, Richland, and Mt. Olive. In retirement he served Soulles Chapel United Methodist Church.
After going into the ministry he attended Jones County Junior College and William Carey College, and Emory University.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Davis Covington; grandchildren, Lorien Denham and Luke Covington; son, David Covington; brother, Keith Covington, Jr., and sister, Charlotte Flynt.
He is survived by son, Mark Covington (Kenda); two daughters, Stephanie Denham and Melissa Stephens (Danny); two sisters, Evelyn Ryals and Ruth Covington; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Nash.
Pallbearers will be William Stephens, Josh Davis, Andrew Henry, Ray Cooksey, Kenneth Mann, and Kelvin Knotts.
