Funeral services for Frances M. Burrage will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Dan Lanier and Reverend Wade Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Burrage, age 89, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at North Point Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Burrage was a surgical nurse at Rush Hospital, started and taught the ORT program at MCC for 10 years prior to retiring. She went back to Rush Hospital for several years and retired at age 65. She taught machine quilting part time at the Meridian Activities Center for 27 years retiring from there at age 87. She was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years and continued to help her class with their flower fund.
She is survived by her daughter, Terressa Aileen Semmes and her husband, Richard; her son, Walter R. Burrage, Jr. and his wife, Charlene; grandsons, Charles E. Burrage, Jr. and his fiancé, Sarah; Jason Burrage and his wife, Julia; Ryan Burrage and his wife, Christina; granddaughters, Diana Semmes Gasca and her husband, Alex; and Haley Semmes; great grandchildren, Anna Catherine Gasca, Hannah Burrage, Owen Burrage, and Madeline (Maddie) Gasca.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, W.R. Burrage, Sr.; son, Charles E. Burrage, Sr.; parents, Charlie C. and Gertie A. Miller; and siblings, Mae Whitehead, Maxine Williams, Robert Miller, Nina Wood, and J.C. Miller.
Pallbearers will be Charles Burrage, Jr.; Jason Burrage, Ryan Burrage, Alex Gasca, Wayne Raley, and Danny Ray Garrett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be donated to Feed by Faith on 5th Street in Meridian or a favorite charity of choice.
