Funeral services for Mrs. Grace McDonald will be held Wednesday, August 2 at 4p.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, with Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will be at Valley Grove Cemetery in Munson, FL with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. McDonald, a long-term resident of Meridian, MS passed away at home on July 31, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
Grace was born in rural Clarke County on October 9, 1925. She was a housewife and along with her husband Tom raised two sons. Grace loved caring for children and continued her gift of love and nurturing after her children were grown. She provided childcare for many families in Meridian for over 20 years.
She and her husband, Tom traveled the United States extensively by car, only flying three times during her life. She was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church for over 50 years with only a short break while living in Orlando, FL, Hawthorne, FL and Birmingham, AL. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and fellow church members.
She is survived by two sons, Michael McDonald (Andree) of Gretna, LA and Patrick McDonald (Joyce) of Gainesville, FL. 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and her very special friend Elaine Foster, the daughter she never had. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom, mother Sarah Phillips Courtney, father Robert B. Courtney and five siblings.
