James Delbert (J.D.) Grisham, 84, a Korean War Veteran and Railroad retiree passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
James leaves behind his beloved wife and partner of 38 years, Sharon Grisham; his daughter Cindy Phillips of Salem, South Carolina; his son Wesley Henderson and his wife Rachel from Nashville, TN and their four children; his son Gary Breiling and his wife Monica from McLeansboro, Illinois and their two children. Three brothers, Joe Grisham, Paul Grisham and Philip Grisham all of Clarke County, MS, and three sisters, Earline Lawrence of Smyrna, GA, Frances Sheffield of Ft. Myers, FL and Nellie Mercurio of Barnesville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his son James David, granddaughter Lauren Grisham, father Rev. O. F. Grisham, mother Della Grisham, stepmother Dorthy Grisham, brother David Grisham, and sisters Helen Williams and Esther Eaton.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Crouch Cemetery near Belle Prairie, IL with the Rev. Robert Abbott officiating. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #106 and the Army Reserve of Marion, IL. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
