John Julian Morse

August 24, 1970 - July 30, 2018

John Julian Morse John Julian Morse was born Aug. 24, 1970. God knew this little boy would bless a mother and on Sept. 25, 1970, God placed this precious gift, known as Baby Ned, in his mother's arms and he was named John, a family name since 1796.
John was a happy active child who "wore no dirt or blue jeans until he started school". He was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Phi Kappa. He loved the outdoors and spending the day riding his bike. At the age of 11, John made the most important decision of his life when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
At age 15, John started working at Broadmoor Home Center where he worked for four years. He attended Meridian High School and in 1989, his family moved to Pensacola. He attended Pensacola Junior College until the family was transferred to Memphis where John received a BA in accounting from Memphis State in 1993. He continued his education at Memphis State and graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in May 1998.
John began his law career by working at Lt. Governor John S. Wilder's law firm and in 2000, he joined the Patrick B. Mason law firm in Memphis. Missing his hometown, John returned to Meridian and became licensed in Miss. in Dec. 2001. He opened the John J. Morse, Attorney at Law firm in January, 2002 and served the community through his practice.
In 2006, John and his wife, Brandi Landrum's world was blessed with the birth of Ella Elizabeth Morse. The law practice was closed in 2007 and he joined his parent's business, Little Acre of Bailey, to assist with the operations and accounting at the store until he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2010.
John bravely fought his cancer diagnosis with multiple surgeries, hospitalizations, radiation, and chemotherapy. He still enjoyed spending time with Ella and his family. From active sports, he enjoyed riding back country roads at every opportunity.
Ella kept John entertained helping tend to her five dogs, cat, gerbil, lizard, frog, and pony. He enjoyed taking her horseback riding and even joining her for rides. These were the happiest times of his life.
John died Monday, July 30, 2018, at the age of 47 at Anderson Regional Medical Center after a 7 ½ year battle with brain cancer.
Survivors include his daughter, Ella Morse; parents, Bob and Rita Morse; aunt, Sharon Hedgpeth; cousins, Wayne Hedgpeth, Casey (Phillip) Culpepper and their children, Grayson and John Luke, Lauren Hedgpeth; great-aunt Ursula Ratcliff; Ella's mother, Brandi Griffith; special friends, Peter and Vera Smith, Frances Stephenson, Michele Winstead; and friends of Little Acre.

A special thank you to the area churches for keeping John in their prayers.
