Mr. Baskin, age 64, of Meridian passed away on April 3, 2019 at his residence.
For many years, Mr. Joe was a member of New Hope Baptist Church on Highway 494. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. Mr. Joe was great and had an infectious personality; he had a way of making others feel cheerful and brightening up their days.
Joe was a mechanic and an over-the-road truck driver by trade. He took great pride in his work and ability to park an 18 wheeler in places where no one else could. He enjoyed riding and seeing the countryside. He had a love for vehicles, especially antiques, and he collected antique model cars as well. Joe was known to think of the exhaust system on souped-up cars as music to his ears, and he could listen to it endlessly.
Survivors include his wife, Claudine W. Baskin; one son, Joseph Dewayne (Julie) Baskin; daughters Trisi Baskin and Tanya Moore; stepsons, Jerry (Marie) and Tim (Debbie) Moore; one grandson, Colby Baskin and six step-grandchildren, Keri, Mark, Lela, Ricky, Raysen, and River Moore; his mom, Lula Mae Baskin; his siblings, Marcell (Dian) Baskin, James O. (Sue) Baskin, and Brenda Gail Maese; and his close friends, Paul and George Ward, Raymond Culpepper, and Larry Bond.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Howard Hubert Baskin.
The family requests that donations be made to New Hope Baptist Church (11324 Highway 494, Collinsville, MS 39325).
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
The family of Mr. Baskin would like to give a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice for their care.
