Laura Grafton Moore
Mrs. Moore, 79, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, she attended the University of Cincinnati on a full academic scholarship where she earned a degree in nursing and then pursued a career as a public health nurse. It was also in Cincinnati where she met and married the love of her life, Dan. In 1964 after their Jan. 4 wedding, the couple moved to Meridian where she worked as a nurse in various roles until the birth of her children. She later worked as the manager of her husband's medical practice until retiring in 2004.
She was never more happy than when sharing the love of Jesus Christ and leading others to follow him. Her passion for sharing the gospel extended to numerous overseas mission trips, primarily to India but also included the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years and for the last 25 years was an active member of 15th Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, numerous service committees, church leadership search committees, and Bible study leader. She was known by everyone as a true prayer warrior. Mrs. Laura was a passionate learner, reading daily to discover new, interesting facts that she loved to share with others. Her other hobbies included dancing, reading, swimming, scuba diving, creating floral arrangements, painting in various mediums, playing the piano, hiking and exploring nature, and traveling throughout the world.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dan Moore; her sons Danny (Vieven) of Coppell, Texas and Jonathan (Holly) of Meridian; five grandchildren John Daniel, Michael, Haven, Katie, and Houston; her brother John Grafton of Akron, OH, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nadelle Grafton, of Cincinnati.
