Funeral services for Lillian McWilliams will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Marion, with Bro. Kyle Naylor officiating. Burial will be held at Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery (located in Kemper County). Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Ms. McWilliams, age 90, of Meridian, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. McWilliams was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion for most of her adult life. She taught Sunday School for many years. She graduated from House High School, East Central Community College, and Mississippi State University. It was at MSU that she became Mississippi States greatest fan.
After college, Mrs. McWilliams began her teaching career in Kemper County Schools. Later, she taught at Ponta and Northeast Lauderdale, where she completed thirty-eight years. She touched many lives as a teacher.
Mrs. McWilliams loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally. She also loved their friends and was known as Mamaw to many. She loved being surrounded by people whenever she could. Her family and friends will deeply miss her.
She is survived by her children, Susan Oubre and Billy Clyde (Dottie) McWilliams; grandchildren, Jessica Tingle, Chris (Chelsi) Oubre, Jake (Madison) McWilliams, and Lindsey (Adam) Rippie; great-grandchildren, Kel Jones, Alyssa Tingle, Palmer McWilliams, Carter Rippie, and Collins Rippie; sisters, Sarah Hall and Sue (George) Saxon; brothers, Ozell Hardy, Charles Hardy, and Jimmy (Bobbie) Hardy; and her sister-in-law, Betty Jean (Otis) Vaughn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. McWilliams; parents, Charlie and Ola Hardy; sisters, Mabel Truhitt and Jewel Edwards; and her sons-in-law, Charlie Tingle and Mark Oubre.
The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Marion.
Pallbearers will be Dudley Tisdale, Scott Tisdale, David Van Doren, Jake McWilliams, Keith Mooney, Alan Vaughn, Chris Oubre, and Adam Rippie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stanley Gressett, Stanley Rawson, Randy Winfield, Skipper Holloway, Brent Rials, and Bob Stephenson.
