Mary's Story

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Watkins will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Tatum and Rev. Chuck Fowler officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Watkins, age 94, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Christa House of Meridian.
She graduated from Lauderdale High School. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Watkins received a business degree. After receiving her degree, she worked in the field of money management. She worked for over thirty years as the budget clerk for NAS Meridian, where she received a Meritorious Civilian Award for excellent service.
She was active in the Lockhart Church of God, where she served as treasurer. Along with serving her church, she served as the Southern Annual Camp treasurer for many years. Mrs. Watkins also served as the treasurer for the Clayton Cemetery Association. She will be remembered as a hard worker and a faithful servant of the Lord. She had a profound love for her family. On Sundays, her house was open not only to her family, but also the members of the community. She loved to feed people, and numerous people remember her for her home cooking that she loved to share.
Survivors include her children, Linda (David) Fluker and Charlotte Kimbrough; grandchildren, Juanice (Tony) Vega, Ramona Fluker, Charles Kimbrough, and Angela (Trey) Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Allie and Tori Vega, Nelson Kimbrough, and Lily, Emma, and Levi Ramsey; and a host of relatives, loved ones, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kenneth Watkins; son-in-law, Reverend James Kimbrough; and her siblings, Nelson (Martha) and Hallie Ellerbee.
In the place of flowers, the family request memorials be made to The Gideons International Association and the Lockhart Church of God.
Pallbearers will be Danny Mason, Eddie Cook, Paul Watkins, Nathan Dean, Greg Hatcher, Wayne Mason, Kenneth Dale Watkins, and Jim Clayton. Charley Love and David Mason will be honorary pallbearers.
