Ms. Mavis Gustin, 93, of Meridian, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at her home.
In 1943, she met and married her very handsome Yankee soldier from St. Johnsbury, Vt. Their incredible journey together lasted 58 years until his death in 2001. Mavis was a loving Christian mother who devoted her life to her home, and her family. Being a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church founded by her parents over 60 years ago, she took her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ literally. Mavis was an extraordinarily gifted artist who often shared her memories on canvas for others to enjoy and appreciate. She has gone on to be with Jesus and her beloved family and will be gravely missed by those of us left behind. She is having a joyous reunion in Heaven.
Survivors include her daughter, Vi Stinnette (Charles "Bub"); grandson, Todd Stinnette (Allison); granddaughter, Becky Phillips (Terry); great-grandsons, Cody and Dusty Clevenger; sister, Sara Smith; brother, Luther Joyner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Gustin; son, Alan Gustin; parents, Gracie and Eldon Joyner and her brothers, Lester and Lewis Joyner.
Pallbearers will be great-grandsons and nephews.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
