Merion's Story

Text size

Mrs. Boehlke, age 90, of Meridian, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.
Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Merion was born on February 13, 1927 in Winston County, Mississippi to James and Connie Farmer. Born a child of God and having spent most of her childhood as a resident of the Baptist Childrens Village in Jackson, Mississippi, Merions entire life was guided by her strong faith.
Due to difficult conditions in the orphanage, Merion could not tolerate seeing and knowing people and animals were deprived of food or shelter.
There was never a second thought about sharing her pantry and belongings with those in need.
She married Harold Boehlke on August 2, 1953 in San Francisco, California. Fishing under the Golden Gate Bridge was a special time for she and Harold.
After many moves, Merion and Harold finally retired to Meridian, Mississippi, enjoying the weather and fresh produce from their garden.
Her talents included cooking, painting abstract pictures, and refurbishing clothing for antique dolls.
Merions grandchildren and step-grandchildren always held a special place in her heart and she in theirs.
She is survived by her daughter, Serena and grandchildren, Karon, Denice, Deanna, and Theresa, step-daughter, Lorraine and her husband, Bill, and three step-grandchildren, Debbie, John, and Laurie Ann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; one sister; five brothers; one grandson, Rick; son-in-law, Gary; and parents, James and Connie Farmer.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
Thank you mom for always having my room ready for my visits, and your extra-special spaghetti sauce just for me. Love, Lorraine
