Nell Keyes's Story
Nell Keyes Wright, age 88, went to be with her Lord on July 6, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.
She is survived by one brother Esse Harold Keyes; two sisters, Betty Keyes Barber and Emily Keyes Alger (Bill); one sister-in-law Russelyn Keyes; her three children, Marion P. Wright (Kathy), Joseph T. Wright (Norma) and Cindy W. Vaughn (Paul); seven grandchildren, Stacey E. Wright, Tommy M. Wright, Emily W. Viladot (Sebastian), Jenna W. Hill (Jesse), Jessica W. Cooper (Chase), Rachel V. Rogers (Olan) and Joni V. Westmoreland (Barrett); five great-grandchildren and a host of very special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; John Prentiss Keyes and Mable Boulton Keyes; two brothers, Dr. Prentiss Felton Keyes (Irene), John Howard Keyes; two sisters Cecelia K. Woodham and Mary K. Skelton; one brother-in-law William V. Barber; and one sister-in-law Martha Ann B. Keyes.
Mrs. Nell retired with USF&G Insurance as an underwriter; she was also an active member and past president of Meridian Women's Insurance Association.
She was a very active member of Central Baptist Church and served faithfully in the Youth, Children's and Women's Ministries and Choir. She has been remembered fondly by her former Pastor who stated, "She is an amazing woman. What a testimony that she is still teaching Sunday School in her mind. She loves the Lord. All the children she taught loved her and she was a great influence on them." Though her service within her church measured over 65 years, her passionate love for the Lord spanned a lifetime. As a young woman, she felt the call of the Lord to Missions. This call looked very different than she imagined, but the impact of her life far exceeded even her own understanding and imaginings. Though we may say good-bye for now to our beautiful matriarch of faith, heaven has welcomed a woman of strength, unmeasurable dignity and grace with The Father's treasured greeting of "Well done my good and faithful servant".
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Services will follow on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Special thanks to her caregivers Vicky Richardson and Wanda Marshall, for their care and support of her over the past several years.
