Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lee McRae will be held Saturday October 21, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend John Temple, Reverend Rhett Payne, and Reverend James Ruffin officiating. Burial to immediately follow at Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McRae age 87, of Meridian, passed away October 18th at Homestead Village in Pensacola, FL.

Bob was born in Whynot and spent most of his life in and around Meridian. He began working at a young age for his family's saw mill. Bob's varied careers included Contractor, CPA, Co- founder of Clearspan Components and Teacher. Bob was an instrumental member of the School Board from 1966 -1979, a longtime member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church and a loyal supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Also, he was a devoted member of The Downtown Rotary Club where he enjoyed the friendship of his fellow "special" table members. His most important roles in life included Fatherhood, Husband, Sunday School teacher and Boy Scout Leader.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet (Archibald) Elizabeth McRae McKinlay of Chesterfield, MO and a son, Robert Steven (Shelby) McRae of Josephine, AL; grandsons, Archie, Michael and Will; granddaughters, Maggie and Ali; brother, Jim (Joann) McRae; sister, Carolyn Temple; trusted friend and faithful employee of 47 years, Sylvia McCoy; and his loyal caregivers, Miss Deborah Ramsey and Mr. Lynn Wilkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ethel McRae and his devoted wife of 63 years, Mary Evelyn McRae.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Jude's Hospital and the Alzheimer's Association.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Mac, and Tommy Temple, Archie and Michael McKinlay and Will McRae. Honorary pallbearers are the Senior Mens Sunday School Class of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
