Ronnie Ron Alton Smith Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie "Ron" A. Smith will be Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Hancock officiating. Interment will follow at Hamrick Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 73, of Collinsville, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ron was an avid racing enthusiast who loved cars and speed. He was also a mechanic and enjoyed tinkering and rebuilding engines. He was a martial arts fan. He enjoyed time outdoors hunting and fishing with family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had a special companion, Little Bit, his cat. He was employed by Delco Remy as a master machinist for nearly 20 years; even making his own tools at home. He also began an early military career with the U.S. Marines as a Recon Marine and later served with the U.S. Army Special Forces; he served on the guided missile cruiser U.S.S. Little Rock in which he toured many countries.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Genia Smith; children, Temple "Chris" Wilkes (Graham), Nicole Harris (James), Cyle Keith (Angela); grandchildren, Makenzie Bullock, Brendan Jones, Kelsey Harris, Bryce Harris, Brett Keith, and Weston Keith; mother, Ruby Smith; brothers, Dennis C. Smith (Robin) and Eddie Smith (Jenny); sister-in-law, Barbara Smith, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Smith; siblings, Phyllis Harris and Gene Smith.
The family requests memorials are made to Crossview Church, The American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
