A memorial service for William Jerome Bill Brunelle will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Reverend Gerald Chaney will officiate.
Mr. Brunelle, age 79, of Collinsville, MS died Friday, December 29, 2017 at University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born November 10, 1938 in Worcester MA. Mr. Brunelle served his country in the United States Navy and was among the first group of sailors stationed at what was then Naval Auxiliary Air Station Meridian. During his tour in Meridian he met and married the love of his life, Grace Stuart Brunelle. Bill and Grace celebrated 55 years of marriage on November 12, 2017.
Mr. Brunelle joined the Meridian Police Department in 1973 which began a career in law enforcement than spanned over 40 years. He retired from both the Meridian Police Department and Lauderdale County Sheriffs Department and continued his law enforcement career in private security working over 20 years at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center and providing security for other local companies and events.
He was a member of Pine Grove Church in Collinsville and also affiliated with Christ Community Church in Meridian.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Stuart Brunelle; son, William Stuart Brunelle, both of Collinsville; grandchildren, William Zachary Brunelle of Hillsboro, TX; Lillian Rae Brunelle of Collinsville; Emily Booker of Meridian; and one sister, Gaye Gillion, of Worcester, MA. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.
Continuing his lifelong service to others, Mr. Brunelle donated his body to medical science at University of MS Medical Center to further the education and teaching of medical students and the advancement of medical procedures.
