Funeral services for Willow Dean (Dee) Whitehead will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Dan Lanier and Brother Wade Phillips officiating. There will be a private family burial.
Mrs. Whitehead, age 83, passed away July 4th at University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Ms. Whitehead was born in the Coye community of Kemper County on October 23, 1933. She received her Bachelors degree and Masters degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She went on to teach and become a school administrator for Royal Oaks schools in the greater Detroit area. Ms. Whitehead spent her retirement years in Meridian. She was a member of Little Fortnight club. She became a member of Northcrest Baptist Church in 1994. She was a member of the building committee for the current sanctuary, taught a Sunday school class and helped with Vacation Bible school for many years. She gave generously of her time and money to Aldersgate Retirement Community, where she lived, and Northcrest Baptist Church.
Willow is survived by her sisters, Clarice Williamson of Philadelphia, Carolyn Carroll of Preston, Beverly (Bob) Jones of Baton Rouge, LA and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Adron V Whitehead, her parents Louis and Clara Mae McDonald, her sister Glynn McKay, four brothers-in-law and one nephew.
The family request memorials be made to Northcrest Baptist Church or Coye Assembly of God Cemetery Fund.
Pallbearers will be Don McKay, Randy Carroll, Greg Lee, Garner Kemp, Barry Wright, Wayne Rodgers, Charles Rodgers, Stephen Broussard, Justin Palmer, and Sean Whitney.

Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
