Memorial service for Anna Durbin will be Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
The world lost a wonderfully kind soul with the passing of Anna (Fisher) Durbin, 63, of Meridian, on March 20, 2017.
Anna was born July 18, 1953 in Germany, was adopted and came to live in Newton, MS at the age of six. She lived most of her life in Meridian, MS where she worked as a hairdresser for over 30 years. Her work put her in contact with many people who not only appreciated her skill and quick wit, but saw in her a genuine heart and came to love her as family. Anna's love for Jesus Christ was clear to everyone who met her. She taught her family to take everything to God in prayer and to be thankful daily for even the smallest gifts. Anna saw God's majesty all around her; in every sunrise, starry night, blooming flower, and creature He created. She was in awe of God's awesome presence and comfort and looked forward to the end of her life knowing she would spend eternity with her Creator.
Survivors include her husband Dennis, brothers Henry Bayer and Thomas Wunderlich (Ute) of Germany, daughter Elisa Melton (Geoffrey), daughter Kaycie Thomas (Darrell), son Gary Fisher, Jr., step-sons David Durbin and family of California and Rick Durbin, grandchildren Sydney Melton, Anna Melton, Geoffrey Melton, Jr., Zackery Thomas, and Ty Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Charles and Elizabeth Gibson and birth mother Berta Wunderlich of Germany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
