Mrs. Jim Bob "Bobbie" Tuggle May passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, after a brief illness. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, with 2:00 p.m. services following at Newton County Funeral Home - North with Rev. Gary Howse officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Garden in Newton.
Born November 13, 1931, to W. H. Tuggle and Mary Williford Tuggle, Bobbie grew up in Camilla, Georgia with her sisters Jean, Elizabeth, Delona and Pat as well as her brother Walter. Seeking a bit of adventure, she relocated to Louisiana where she met a young airman, Edward L. May, whom she married April 11, 1958. Following a whirlwind decade in the military crossing continents and oceans, the family settled in Newton, Mississippi in 1968.
Ever a faithful and dedicated mother with a servant's heart, Bobbie loved Newton UMC and offered herself in many aspects of the church's ministries. She was rarely without a hymn on her lips as she moved about her home providing for her children and husband of 58 years. She served at Newton Public School System as a teacher's aide before graduating to the superintendent's office prior to her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two siblings. Survivors include her sisters Jean Hologa, Delona Sather and Pat Keever as well as her children; Keith (Jean) May, Kim (Mike) Deaton and Krista Hughes, six grandchildren Kiel and Scott May, Taylor Deaton, Nolen (Jen), Andy (Kirsten) and Aaron (Lindsey) Hughes as well as three great-grandchildren Ascher, Kobe, Malachi and many nieces and nephews.
