A celebration of life service for Jerry Ken Covington will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend Eric Mabbott and Dr. John Temple officiating. Interment will be in Bailey Presbyterian Cemetery.
Jerry, age 81, died in his home Tuesday, April 25, 2017 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Cleveland Covington; daughter, Rosanne Covington Brasher; son, Brian Ken Covington (Paula). Grandchildren; Becky Brasher Moore (Lee), Jerry Keith Covington (Missy), Matthew Covington, Celia Covington Gooch (Robert); Great Grandchildren, Olivia Grace Covington and Noah Keith Covington; Brother-in-law, Larry Cleveland (Dot); Stepbrother, Mickey Clark (Silbie); Nephews, Tom Covington, Drew Covington (Michelle), Bryant Cleveland (Jennifer); Nieces, Johnnie Lynn Randall, Patti Ball (Greg), and Brandy Covington Daley (Chris); and a host of cousins as well as cherished church family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Thomas Covington Sr., mother, Annie Jane Talbert Covington, and brother, Woodrow Thomas "Tommy" Covington Jr.
Jerry was a lifetime member of Bailey Presbyterian where he served as a Deacon.
Jerry and Patricia celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary April 15, 2017 and have left a wonderful legacy of committed Christian love.
He was an avid turkey hunter and fisherman.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Roberts, Alan Higgason, Bryant Cleveland, Russell Moffett, Greg Caldwell and Justin McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cleveland, Drew Covington, Terry Covington, Perry Davis, Jack Davis, Tommy McDonald, Jerone Hembree, Ricky Odom and Kenneth Waddell.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. John David Voss and the staff at Meridian Oncology Associates as well as the fourth floor oncology nurses at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. We were blessed by the amazing services provided by Ben and Charissa Shirley through Home Instead Senior Care. We are thankful for the kindness shown to our family by Jack Kern and Compassus Hospice.
