Lana's Story

Text size

Services celebrating the life of Lana Sue Dorman Booker will be held at Coker's Chapel United Methodist Church in Vimville, MS, Saturday, June 10 at 2:00pm, with Brother Jack Kern and Brother David Wilkerson officiating. The family will receive loved ones and friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the church, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Lana went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 9th. She was surrounded by her loved ones and is now at peace. She leaves behind the love of her life, Johnny E. Booker. On July 30th, they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
She also leaves behind her two daughters, Suzanne Leemkuil and Kristie Stultz, her Mother, Nell Dorman, her two sisters, Bonnie James and Carol Dorman Edmonds, her two brothers Billy Dorman and Ricky Swanner.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Booker McReynolds and her son, John David Booker.
She cherished her nine grandchildren and they all held a special place in her heart. Lana was born on December 5th, 1943 in Union, MS. She was the third child of five born to Sam and Nell Dorman. After moving to Meridian, she attended South Side Elementary, Kate Griffen Jr. High, Meridian High School and graduated from Southeast Lauderdale in 1962. From the time she was a little girl, all Lana ever wanted out of life was to be a wife and a mother. She dedicated her life to her family. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was a faithful servant until the very end. She was an active member of Coker's Chapel for over 50 years. She served in all areas of ministry, including Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir, and Caring Hands. She also enjoyed participating in the Garden Fellowship Club. She was famous for her cooking and often took food to sick people and widows. She even started a Sunday weekly devotion on Facebook that was followed by many people from all over the world. Yes, our precious Mother will be missed so very much but her memories are sweet. She can truly shout from the heavens, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith!" Well done, good and faithful servant!
