Michael "Mike" Miller
Services for Michael "Mike" Miller will be Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Lenin Vargas, Father Matthew Simmons, and Deacon Nick Adam officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Farm Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miller, 57, of Meridian, passed away Monday at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
He served his country in the Army as Military Police as well as the National Guard. He later became Chief of Police in Marion, MS. After his service as Chief of Police, he had a later career in insurance with Liberty National, where he was a branch manager in Navarre Beach before returning to the Scooba and Meridian areas.
He was a dedicated member of St. John's Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Knights of Peter Claver, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He founded the Iron Wheel Sportsman Club, which caters to people with disabilities. He will be remembered most for being a loving and dedicated husband to Dee and grandfather "Poppy" to Kayleigh.
His survivors include wife Dee Miller of Meridian; sons Brandon Miller of Buhl,Ala. and Cal Miller of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; granddaughter Kayleigh Grantham of Butler, Ala.; brother Carey Miller of Pickensville, Ala.; and mother Katie Kimbrell of Aliceville, Ala.
He is preceded in death by his father Revis Miller and his grandparents.
The family would like to give special acknowledgments and thanks to Jennifer and Marla of Hospice Compassus for their dedication and time, Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Sundar, Dr. Jones, Dr. Kevin Katona, Dr. Randy Nance, and all of the volunteers for the Iron Wheel Sportsman Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the Iron Wheel Sportsman Club at Citizens National Bank of Meridian.
Visitation will be Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
