Phillip "Phil"'s Story
Graveside services for Phillip "Phil" Zachry will be Friday, April 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Old Marion Cemetery with Dr. Ralph Henson officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Zachry, 69, of Meridian passed away Monday. He served his country in the Army during Vietnam as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart as well as numerous other ribbons. Mr. Zachry was a member of the Meridian Police Department from 1973 until retirement in 1992. During his career, he advanced in rank from Police Officer, Sergeant and Captain/Shift Commander in the Patrol Division. He provided many fond memories for his family and friends. Mr. Zachry enjoyed antiques and had many collections over the years. Fishing was a great enjoyment for him.
Survivors include his daughters, Whitney Zachry and Casey Zachry Eason (Rob); grandchild, Wesley Phillip Eason; and sister, Terry Bogan.
Pallbearers will be the Meridian Police Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be retired Meridian Police Officers.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meridian Police Benevolent Association or Meridian FOP. Family and friends may sign online register at www.stephensfunerals.com.
