Rita Barham Taubman, 74 died peacefully on August 26, 2017. Rita's life was grounded in an unwavering faith and trust in the Lord even with her 12-year challenge with cancer. She is now with the Lord in her Heavenly home. Her joyous, optimistic and engaging persona brought many to a life of faith and others to a deeper faith. She was an inspiration to those who knew her.
Rita leaves her loving husband Richard after 52 years of marriage. She is survived also by her brother Jerry W. Barham and his wife Judy.
Rita was born in Meridian, Mississippi. After completing her undergraduate studies, she relocated to Florida where she earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. She was a grade school teacher in Brevard County and at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Ft. Pierce, Fl, also serving as Director of the school for almost ten years
After their retirement Rita and her husband joined Wycliffe Bible Translators, serving in Papua New Guinea for three years, to help bring God's word to this region. Returning home, they worked at Wycliffe headquarters in Orlando, Fl, for about 2 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on 16 September at Prince of Peace church in Viera, FL
Memorial gifts may be given to Prince of Peace church or to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Orlando Florida.
