Funeral services for Ray Bishop will be held Friday, July 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, with Rev. Wayne Whitaker and Dr. Jeff Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Meridian Memorial Park, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bishop, age 87, of Meridian, passed away July 10, 2017, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
Ray was a veteran of the US Air Force and served in Korea. He worked for many years as an insurance agent with American National Insurance Company. Ray was a longtime member and deacon at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Knight and her husband, Bubba, and Bruce Bishop and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Wendy Whitaker and her husband, Wayne, Jaime Hegeman and her husband, Joe, Jason Knight and his wife, Kelly and Whitney Bishop; great-grandchildren, Zachary Whitaker, Colby Whitaker, Anna Catherine Whitaker, Madeline Hegeman, Noah Hegeman, Emily Knight, and Claire Knight; sisters, Lucille Parker and Nadine Clements, brother, Glenn Bishop, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Bishop; sister, Margaret Page and brother, TJ Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Fifteenth Avenue Building Fund.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Price, Don Grantham, Gerald Davidson, Randy Etheridge, Albert Bartlett, and Joe Chambers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Scott, OC Barham, and Carl Crenshaw.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
