Suzanne Jones's Story
Suzanne Jones Thomas, 80, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at her home in Glenview, Illinois. She was born on February 28, 1937 in Meridian, Mississippi to Dr. Marshall Lowry Jones (M.L.) and Johnnie Merle Jones. Suzanne grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and graduated from Meridian High School in 1955 and attended the University of Alabama.
Suzanne married Arthur William Thomas Jr. in 1959 in Meridian, Mississippi. They were happily married for 48 years and have two sons, Stephen Marshall and John Buckingham. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Glenview. She enjoyed raising golden retrievers, gardening, crafting, and most importantly, spending time with her family laughing, watching her kids' sports, and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Marshall Lowry Jones and Johnnie Merle Jones; her spouse, Arthur William Thomas Jr.; and her sister, Joellyn (Jo).
She is survived by her sister, Robin Jones Durham (William) of Madison, Mississippi; her sons, Stephen (Elizabeth) and John (Mary) of Glenview; her grandchildren, Marshall, Polly, and Lowry and Emma, Kara, and J.T.; and her loving nieces and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Suzanne's dedicated caregiver, April Chan.
Services will be Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. David's Episcopal Church, 2410 Glenview Road, Glenview, IL 60025.
