Funeral services for Burnadyne J. Smith were held Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Pastor Tom McCurley and Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial followed in Cooks Chapel Cemetery in Neshoba County. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 97, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and worked as an accountant for Williams Brothers for several years. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting last names for friends across the world, and baking cakes for people was her passion. She was always checking on her neighbors and friends. She was a member of the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, and Wives of Gideons. Mrs. Smith was an active member of Mt. Nelson Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, O'Neil Smith (Cindy) of Cedar Bluff, Miss., Lee Smith (Jackie) of Ackerman; grandchildren, Amy King (Darryl), Leslie Ezelle (Travis), and Chandler Smith (Shay); great-grandchildren, Mary Chandler King, Natalie King, Lorin Ezelle, and Max Ezelle; sister, Madeline Vuncannon (Tom) of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Chandler O'Neil Smith; sister, Margie Hardesty; and brother, Jimmy Jackson.
Pallbearers were Kent Gray, Tim Chapman, Brent Gray, Dale Gray, Bill Smith, and Ed Luke Gray. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Vuncannon, Frank Minor, Jones Brantley, and Sid Williams.
