Carolyn Ruth Shelton Obituary

Brandon, MS - Carolyn Ruth Shelton, 83, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on July 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 25, 1941, in Meridian, Mississippi, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Hugh Thomas Thompson and Lola Bell Jordan. From a young age, Carolyn displayed a kind heart full of love and generosity - qualities that would define her life as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In 1961, Carolyn began loving her champion and soul mate, Bo Shelton. The two were married in 1963 and shared over 61 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in family, faith, and enduring love. Together, they raised three sons and created a family of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Carolyn and Bo's life together included homes in Union, MS; Jackson, MS; Meridian, MS; and Brandon, MS. As devout Christians, they have been cherished members at church homes including Midway Baptist Church in Meridian, Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, Liberty Baptist Church in Brandon, and their current church home - First Baptist Church of Fannin.

Carolyn was a dedicated homemaker and a nurturing child care provider, known for the way she lovingly cared for both her own family and others. Her home was always filled with the comfort of her presence, and nothing brought her more happiness than lovin' on her grand-babies and great grand-baby for whom she always had a kind word and warm hug.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Robert James "Bo" Shelton; her sons: Eric Shelton (Karen), David Shelton (Mandy Alford), and Kevin Shelton (William Apple); her cherished former daughter-in-law: Kimberly Shelton; her grandchildren: Blaine Shelton (Kayli), Tyler Shelton (Brittany), Addison Shelton, and Zachary Apple; her great-granddaughter, Kinsley Shelton; her sole surviving sister: Helen Boykin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Thompson; her mother, Lola Bell (Thompson) Buckley; her sisters, Jean Cumberland and Shirley Boykin; and her brother, Jimmy Thompson.
