Connie Chappell Springfield Obituary

Connie Chappell Springfield died peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from cancer. Connie was born on January 30, 1951 in Talladega, Ala. She is the daughter of the late Virgil and Cleo Chappell. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and received her master's degree from Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama).

Mrs. Springfield was employed by the Marengo County Board of Education for 30 years. She taught all 30 years at John Essex High School as a kindergarten teacher from 1973 until 2003. Many wonderful friends and memories were made at John Essex. She was an active member of Livingston First Baptist Church where she taught the Hope Sunday School Class. Connie was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Sumter County Wildflower Society.

Mrs. Springfield is survived by her family she loved dearly including her husband of 28 years, Wayne Springfield; son, Kyle Edmonds and wife, Mary Grace; daughter, Meredith Payne and husband, Stephen; and three grandchildren, Laine and Pierce Edmonds and Scarlett Payne. Also surviving are sisters, Carolyn C. Carmichael of Atlanta, Ga., and Clovia Chappell of Birmingham, Ala.; nephew, Thomas Charmichael of Atlanta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Joyce Springfield; sister-in-law, Sherry Hanson and husband, Russell; two nieces, Crystal Crawford and husband, Jeff, and Jessie Bolden and husband, Brent; and three nephews, Hunter, Clay, and Cole Hanson.

Services will be Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Livingston First Baptist Church with graveside service to follow for the family. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Bumpers Funeral Home of York in charge of arrangements.
