Meridian, MS - A funeral service for Dorothy D. Shank will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:15 AM at First Baptist Church of Meridian with Dr. Will Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Dorothy Donald Shank, age 101, of Meridian passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Aldersgate Retirement Community.
Dorothy obtained her B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech University, then proceeded to get both her M.Ed. and Educational Specialist degrees from Mississippi State University. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Delta Kappa Gamma, Sigma Kappa, and the Meridian Chapter #11 Order of the Eastern Star where she received a certificate of recognition for her 71 years of service. Dorothy was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Meridian.
Survivors include children, Jacquelyn S. Longmeier (Michael) and Gilbert K. Shank; grandchildren, Meagan Hoffman (Travis), Melissa Donnelly (Matt), and Matthew Longmeier; great-grandson, Briggs William Hoffman; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George K. "Jack" Shank, Jr.; parents, Oren P. and Emma Short Donald; brother, James Oren Donald (Shirley).
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Meridian prior to the service.
