Frances Carol Davidson, 86, of Russell, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Mrs. Davidson was born on May 19, 1939, in Collinsville to F.M. Herrington and Orlena Barber Herrington. First and foremost, Mrs. Davidson was a devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord and lived a life centered around faith, family, and service to others. She was a faithful member of Carmel Baptist Church. She was a lifelong educator who dedicated many years to shaping the lives of students throughout the Meridian area. Mrs. Davidson faithfully served as a classroom teacher and administrator in the Meridian Public School District, Calvary Christian School, and Russell Christian Academy. She believed deeply in the value of education and the importance of encouraging every child to reach their full potential.

Mrs. Davidson began her administrative career as the Principal of Highland Elementary School where, at the time, she was the youngest person ever named Principal. She later made history again as the first female administrator at Poplar Springs Elementary School. Her leadership, professionalism, and dedication to students left a lasting mark on countless educators and children throughout the community.

Even after retirement, Mrs. Davidson's passion for education never stopped. She continued serving students and educators by writing curriculum for the State of Mississippi and working alongside fellow Mississippi educators through the adult education program at Meridian Community College.

Mrs. Davidson had a vibrant personality and never met a stranger. She loved to laugh, have fun, travel, and make memories with the people she loved most. She carried herself with poise and polish, leaving a lasting impression everywhere she went. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments and milestones.

Mrs. Davidson is survived by her children, Sherry Chaney, Lisa Webb (Mark), and Eddie Matfey; grandchildren, Allyson Butler (Travis), Brock Chaney (Brittney), Nikki Harrington (Troy Highland), Jade Matfey, and Stephanie Mimbs; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Brenda Burch and Martha Moretti (Tom); her fur baby, Bama; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Roger Davidson; her parents, F.M. Herrington and Orlena Barber Herrington; her brother, Ronald Herrington, Sr.; her son, John Harrington, III; her grandson, John Harrington, IV; and other beloved family members who welcomed her home to Heaven.

Mrs. Davidson will be remembered for her unwavering faith, lively spirit, love for her family, dedication to education, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched throughout her years of service and through the family she loved so dearly.
