Ms. Taylor, 90, of Decatur, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday morning, Jan. 6, 2019, at her home. A native and permanent resident of Newton County, she was born Sept. 27, 1928, to Harry C. and Alice Jones Freeman.
She is predeceased by her husband, George Willard Taylor for whom she was married 54 years, when he died in May 1998; her brothers, Raymond Freeman, and Wilmer Freeman; and sister, Mary Wall.
She is survived by her two sons, George (Jo) of Forest and Jerry (Wanda) of Madison. She has five grandchildren, Susan Miller (Terry), Hattiesburg, Stephanie Shaw (Brian), Madison, Jonathan Taylor (Donna), Madison, Dustin Taylor (Erin), Madison, Katie Taylor, Madison; and eight great-grandchildren.
Elaine was a member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church in Decatur all her life. In later years, she enjoyed assisting the church staff by posting attendance records, mailing prayer requests, and newsletters. She loved her church and all its members.
Marrying at an early age, she worked for many years, including Boystone Shirt Company, convenience store owner and Home Health. In her spare time, she loved to cook and often gave cakes and goodies to her family and friends. She even prepared her own cookbook, which is prized by those few who were presented one.
She will be missed, but we take relief in the fact that she is walking the streets of Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her husband. Glory to God in the Highest.
Pallbearers: Jonathan Taylor, Dustin Taylor, James Toler, Ken Stringer, Chris Clark, Billy Pierce, George Hayes, and Sid Etie.
