Fred A. Smith Obituary

Fred A. Smith, 77, of Lauderdale, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Friday, March 14, 2025.

Fred will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid sailor and loved being out on the open water. Before the decline of his health, he enjoyed restoring sailboats and also participating in the Mobile Bay and Dauphin Island Regattas.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gladys (Cash) Howard.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his children, Jennifer Miller (Tom), Nathan Smith, and Susan Betke (Edward Blevins); along with a legacy of twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the caring staff of Gentiva Hospice, especially Charlotte and CoCo, for their loving kindness in caring for their father.

Fred's family will have a private memorial service at a later date to honor and celebrate his life.

The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Fred's life and memory and to serve his loving family during this time.
