Harry E. Moore Obituary

A funeral service for Mr. Harry E. Moore will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Neshoba Baptist Church. Brother Allen Hill, Brother Warren Hedgepeth, and Brother Byron Howell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 11 o'clock until 2 o'clock at Stephens Funeral Home of Union.

Mr. Moore, 88, of Union, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Mr. Moore was born in Neshoba County on November 25, 1927. He grew up in Sebastopol where he attended Sebastopol Attendance Center and graduated in 1947. After his high school graduation, he attended East Central Community College. Mr. Moore then moved to Jackson where he joined the Army Air National Guard. He was enlisted in the Army during the Korean War era.

After Mr. Moore was honorably discharged from the Army, he made a stop in Oxford at The University of Mississippi, where he enrolled in college. He spent only one weekend at home before starting his first day at Ole Miss. He graduated in August of 1955. In 1956, he opened Moore's Pharmacy which owned and operated for 44 years. However, Mr. Moore's service to the community did not stop upon the sale of his pharmacy in 1997. He worked at Fred's Pharmacy and Union Discount Drugs before officially retiring at the age of 80 years old.

Survivors include one daughter, Valeria Miller and husband James; two sons, Larry Moore and wife, Wendy, and Brobby Moore and wife Monica; grandchildren, Leif Miller, Haley Moore, Thomas Kornegay, Andrew Moore, Emily Williams and Joshua Williams; and brother, Bruce Moore and wife Carolyn.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Ava Ruth Moore; one daughter, Velvet Moore; and one brother, Jasper Duncan Moore.
