Iver Joyce Broadhead
BUTLER, Ala. [ndash] Funeral services for Iver Joyce Broadhead, 86, of Meridian, Miss., will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2019, at 11 a.m., at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel, in Butler, with Rev. James Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Brightwater Cemetery in Needham, Ala. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Broadhead passed away peacefully at Anderson Regional Medical Center, in Meridian, Monday, Oct. 14. She was born as Iver Joyce Jenkins in Hurricane, Ala., Feb. 23, 1933. She grew up near Gilbertown, Ala. where she married Rev. Hermes Broadhead June 8, 1950. They served at a number of churches in Mississippi and Alabama for the next 50 years, where she was often the church pianist, taught Sunday School and worked with the church youth. She was active in her hobbies which included painting, gardening and genealogy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include: her daughter, Charlotte Gail Walker (Duane) of Davie, Fla.; son, Michael Kent (Nadiya) of Austin, Texas; grandson, Joshua (Kelly) of Memphis, Tenn.; granddaughter, Nadia of Austin, Texas; two great-grandsons, Lincoln and Roman of Memphis, Tenn.; and special nieces, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry A. and Nomie Donald Jenkins; five brothers: Paul Jenkins, H. A. Jenkins, Howard Jenkins, Heyward Jenkins and Edwin P. Jenkins; and three sisters, Lila Ennis, Laura Smith, and Ruth Kluge.
