Toomsuba, MS - Rodney Goodson passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Rodney was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, and the love he shared with everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Goodson; his sons, James Alexander 'Alex' Goodson (April) and Nicholas Andrew 'Nick' Goodson (Sarah); and his precious first grandson, James Maxwell 'Max', who is expected to arrive in just two weeks. Although Rodney will not be here to welcome Max into the world, his love and legacy will forever live on in the grandson he was so excited to meet.
He is also survived by his siblings, Beverly McCrackin, Ronnie Goodson (Bobbie), and Earl Goodson (Sylvia); brother-in-law, J.T. Cofer; mother-in-law, Louise Battle Antisdel (Denny) sisters-in-law, Mary Louise "Lucy" Battle and Beth Moore (Bobby), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and fur babies who will miss him deeply.
Rodney leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and devotion to his family. His memory will forever be treasured by all who were blessed to know and love him.
A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 12 Noon at Russel Baptist Church at 1844 Hwy 11 & Hwy 80, Meridian, MS. The family would like to receive friends at 11 a.m., one hour prior to the memorial. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
