Quitman, MS - James Harlon "Buddy" Long, 85, of Quitman, Mississippi passed away on January 14, 2024 in Jackson, MS.
He was born on June 3, 1938 to Jake and Lois (Wright) Long in Clarke County, MS.
Buddy was a retired member of the Quitman Volunteer Fire Department with over 50 years of service. He was the owner and operator of Long's Auto Supply for 47 years. He was also a member of the Hamasa Shriners.
James is survived by, Wife, Peggy S. Long, Daughter, Lacia L. (Jimmy) Donald, 2 Grandsons, Ben (Jessica) Donald, and Wesley (Samantha) Donald, 3 Great-granddaughters, Anne Patton Donald, Eleanor Maelynn Donald, and Lillian Jane Donald, God-Daughter, Maggie (Phillip) Robinson, 2 God-Grandsons, Forrest Robinson and Ledger Robinson
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Jake and Lois Long, 2 Sisters, Scharlene Boykin and Sheryl Cook.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, after 5:00 pm at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 12:00 pm in Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Rev. Dennis Coats, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
