Atlanta, GA - Janice White Sikes Rogers was instrumental in preserving and elevating Black history and culture across Atlanta, the South, the nation and the globe. Janice was the first-born child of Bonnye and Willie James White. She graduated from T.J. Harris High School, in 1969. She enrolled in Spelman College where she majored in English. Janice completed a Master's Degree in Library Science from Atlanta University.


For over forty years, she held various senior level management positions in the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. She served on the Mississippi Heritage Trust Board of Trustees. She was fiercely committed to the development of young people through scouting, higher education and camping and retreat ministries. Janice served as the leader of the Women's Ministry at Calvary United Methodist Church.


Janice White Sikes Rogers was preceded in death by her father, Willie James White, her husbands Dan Sikes and Rev. Dr. Willie Roy Rogers, Sr., her daughter, Arianne Danne Sikes, her brother Alfred White and her cousin Barbara Buckley Washington. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her legacy her son, Troy Eugene Sikes (Tia), Nashville, TN; son, Willie Roy Rogers, Jr., San Francisco, CA; daughter, Aimme V. Rogers-Jones (Marvin), San Francisco, CA; granddaughter Luna Arianne, Nashville, TN; grandson, Rajik Seldon, Decatur, GA; mother, Mrs. W. J. (Bonnye) White, Meridian, MS; brothers Glenn White (Tanya), Atlanta, GA, Paul White (Carol) Meridian, MS; nephew and nieces, Christopher, Meera, Indira; a host of other family members, godchildren and special friends.
