Philadelphia, MS - Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannette Cooper Mars were held at 2 PM Sunday, March 15, 2026, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. John E. Stephens officiating. Interment was in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Visitation began at 1 PM Sunday, March 15, 2026, at John E. Stephens Chapel. Mrs. Mars, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Neshoba General Hospital. Born in Tela, Honduras, she attended Forrest County Agricultural High School in Brooklyn, MS as a Boarding Student. After graduating from LSUNO, she worked as an executive secretary for the Mississippi A & I Board in Jackson, MS during which time she met her future husband, George. They were united in marriage on October 12, 1969, in Jackson. Taking over the business for George's parents, they co-owned and operated Mars Bros. Department Store on the square in Philadelphia for a number of years. Mrs. Mars was actively involved in the community and enjoyed visiting with her former employees and customers whenever she got the chance. She loved the Neshoba County Fair and relished the relationships she formed over the years with her Fair neighbors. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and avid LSU fan. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Mars; mother, Pastora VanTuyle. Survivors include daughter, Grayson (Chad) Miller of Hightstown, NJ; 4 grandchildren, Lance England, Caleb England, Owen Miller and Rosalie Miller.
