Meridian, Mississippi - A funeral mass for Joy H. Mitchell will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Carlisle Beggerly officiating. Burial to follow in the Mitchell Family Columbarium of St. Patrick.

Mrs. Joy Harris Mitchell, age 87 of Meridian, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Regency Hospital.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years Gerald Mitchell; children, Kathy Ives (Preston), Lisa Cowart, Deborah Mitchell, and Gerry Mitchell (Hope); grandchildren, Ellis Ives Menefee (Alex), Madeline Ives, Alison Cowart Elliott (Jesse), Jackson Cowart (Caroline), Eli Mitchell, and Meredith Mitchell; siblings, Patricia Harris, Bill Harris, and Chris Harris; fur baby, Cotton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Julie Harris; grandson, David Talmadge Mitchell.

The family of Joy Harris Mitchell would like to thank the staff at Regency Hospital and The Preserve for the wonderful care they provided during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2601 Davis Street, Meridian, MS 39301 or Lamar School, 544 Lindley Road, Meridian, MS 39305.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church prior to the service.
