Major Perry F. Rosenbaum (retired) of Madison, Mississippi passed away on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024 at age 88. Major Rosenbaum is survived by his wife, Kaye Rosenbaum and his son, Fletcher T. Rosenbaum. Additionally he leaves behind his daughter-in-law Terri Lewis Rosenbaum and grandson, Carter P. Rosenbaum.

Also surviving include brothers Samuel Fletcher Rosenbaum and sister-in-law Addie and William David Rosenbaum and sister-in-law Joan.

Perry F. Rosenbaum was born November 8, 1936 in Meridian, Mississippi, the youngest of four sons to Cornelius Lewis Rosenbaum and Ruth Tatum Rosenbaum. Perry and his brothers grew up on Poplar Springs Drive in Meridian. His oldest brother Corneilus Lewis Rosenbaum, Jr (Neil) preceded him in death in 1976. He attended Meridian High School

graduating in 1954. While at Meridian High School Perry played for and worked as a trainer for the football team and the other varsity athletic teams.

He sought higher education at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for one semester before leaving and enlisting in the United States Army where he served for three years in the United States and in Wildflecken, Germany (Wildflecken Kaserne) in the Rhon Mountains.

Upon honorable discharge Perry enrolled at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Perry also worked within the athletic department as an assistant sports medicine trainer and student recruiter. He was the head trainer for the Freshman Bulldog football team and an assistant on the special teams coaching staff. He was an assistant on that team with future coaching legends Johnny Majors and Bill Dooley.

At the time of his graduation from Mississippi State, Perry was offered the job of full time Sports Trainer for the Bulldogs when his mentor retired, however at the same time the United States Army recalled him to active duty in 1964. Major Rosenbaum served his country around the world in Europe and Southeast Asia. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam earning many commendations including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He also served two "tours" within the Pentagon. Upon retirement he and his young family returned to Mississippi for three years. While there he served with the Governor's office as a security specialist. He also worked as an agent for the Mississippi Department of Narcotics.

In 1977 the family moved to North Carolina. Major Rosenbaum volunteered his time for the next 16 years to the South Stokes Senior High School athletic department as head

athletic trainer. He was especially proud to assist as many athletes as possible in continuing their athletic pursuits to schools of higher education including the United States Naval Academy and the United States Military Academy at West Point. He furthered his volunteer work at

Fairhope High School in south Alabama in the mid 1990s.

The only thing Perry Rosenbaum loved more than his country was his family. He and wife, Kaye, were together for more than 57 years. They traveled the country moving over 20 times to places like Alaska and the greater Washington DC area (twice). He was able to witness his son marry and his grandson born. He followed their lives and adventures with pride. He loved good friends, good conversation, and good food. Put them all together and that was a banner occasion. And if there happened to be an SEC college football game in the

background it was all the better. The fall and football were his favorite seasons but he also enjoyed fishing and, later in life, was an award-winning wood carver. He has pieces on display in several locations throughout the south.

Services for Perry F. Rosenbaum will be held in Meridian, MS Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Magnolia Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
