Services for Mrs. Nellie S. Simmons will be held Monday, September 9, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Webb & Stephens-North with Bro. Allan Singletary officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Simmons, 96, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Gulfport, MS.

Relocating to Meridian in 1946 from Porterville, Nellie worked at The Bridal Room for 38 years until her retirement. She was a long-time member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she attended with her husband. She enjoyed reading and tending to her flower garden; however, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Crowson and Sandra Cutler, both of Gulfport, MS; sons, John A. Kelly of Lauderdale, MS and James E. Kelly of Starkville, MS; granddaughters, Suzanne Kearns (Mike) of Atlanta, GA, Kristin Molony (Thomas) of Bailey, MS, Sarah Erwin (Grayson) of Hazelhurst, MS, and Maggie Kelly of Brandon, MS; grandsons, Lee Moseley (Carol) of Pensacola, FL, Kelly Moseley (Sasha) of Cummings, GA, Neil Johnson of Telluride, CO, and John Parker Kelly of Meridian, MS; 12 great grandchildren, with 2 on the way; sister, Johnnetta Buchanan of Porterville, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John E. Simmons; son, Albert Earl Kelly Jr., parents, John David and Susan C. Hopper; 2 brothers; and 7 sisters.

Pallbearers will include Lee Moseley, Kelly Moseley, John Parker Kelly, Mike Kearns, Thomas Molony, and Grayson Erwin.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the funeral home.
