Graveside services for Mrs. Oneta Chisolm were held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at 1 p.m., from Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. McClain-Hays was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chisolm, 103, of Collinsville, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021.
Oneta was born March 30, 1918, in the House Community amongst humble surroundings. She and Frank set up house and began raising a family of three children that they cherished. Oneta lived to see five generations and enjoyed gathering with each and every one of them. Aside from keeping her house a home, she also kept her yard a garden, it was always decorated with beautiful blooms, shrubs and manicured to a T. Oneta passed peacefully at home under the care of her loving family.
She is survived by her children, Janice Alawine, Roland Chisolm Sr. and Diane Smith (James); her grandchildren: Michael Alawine (Trena), Mitch Alawine (Brenda), Steve Smith (Laura), Roland Chisolm Jr., Wendy Baucum (John); her great-grandchildren: Tony Alawine (Michelle), Madison Smith, Savannah Richardson (Christian) and Anderson Smith; her great-great-grandchildren; Josh and Justin Hendrix, Samuel, Tyler, Jack, Ethan and Cody Alawine.
Mrs. Chisolm was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Chisolm; parents, Ben and Minnie Lee Joyner; brothers, Harvey, Frank, Charlie, Abe, Urban and Bennie; sisters, Eva, Nora, Artie Mae, Mary, and Lucille; daughter-in-law, Patsy Chisolm; son-in-law, Max Alawine; great-grandson, Shaun Alawine.
Pallbearers were Mitch Alawine, John Baucum, Steve Smith, Larry Joyner, Christian Richardson, and Anderson Smith.
