Collinsville, Mississippi - Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby Janell Moore were held Saturday Aug. 29, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Collinsville with Pastor James Clark officiating. Mrs. Moore, 83, of Collinsville passed on Saturday Aug. 22, 2020, at her residence.
Ruby Janell (Lewis) Moore was born to the late B.E. and Ruby Mae Lewis on Feb. 13, 1937, in Lauderdale County, Miss. She was a graduate of Lebanon Vocational High School in Collinsville, where she was a STAR basketball player.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and served faithfully as a member and Usher of Pleasant Ridge M.B. Church. She retired from Riley Memorial Hospital after 28 years of service. After retirement her greatest joy was gardening, hosting family reunions, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. After 83 years, Janell peacefully entered into eternal rest on Aug. 22, 2020.
Ruby Janell is preceded in death by her parents, B.E. and Ruby Mae Lewis; her brother, Evon Lewis; and a child, Rosemary Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Gary (Jennifer) Moore and Janet Michelle (Donald) Fortner of Collinsville, Miss., Tracy (Dale) Riley of New Orleans, La., Randy Moore of Memphis, Tenn.; ten grandchildren: Lakendra Moore, Donathon Fortner, Britney Peden (Roderick), Misha Moore, Janetta Fortner, Jasmine Fortner, Aliyah Moore, Destiny Amerson, Aaron Riley, Gabrielle Moore; two great-grandchildren: Amari Peden and Eli Peden; two nephews: Thomas (Evelyn) Lewis and Harold Lewis, and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
