Lauderdale, MS - A Celebration of Life for Tom Sanderford will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev Dr. Richard Short and Rev. Peggy Sanderford Ponder officiating. The family will receive guests from 9:00 until 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Thomas Melvin Sanderford, Jr was born in Meridian, MS on November 21, 1955. He died August 20, 2026, at the age of 70 after a long battle with Cancer. He attended Meridian Public Schools, graduating from Meridian High School in 1973. He attended Mississippi State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1977. He worked as an Internal Auditor for several corporations in MS, LA, OK, and TX before retiring to his home at Dalewood in 1997 at the age of 42, which he was very proud of.

He was a Christian and grew up a member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Tom loved his family, especially his nieces and their families, his friends, his dogs, football, and his beloved Mississippi State University.

He is survived by his sister, Dianne Shannon (Butch), his nieces; April Luke (Cary), Amber Joiner (Rob), Allison Autry (Rob), his great nieces; Ella Kate Autry, Camryn Joiner, and Anne Thomas Joiner, his great nephews; Braden Luke, Cooper Luke, and Jackson Autry, and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Jean Sanderford, his grandparents; Fred and Exie Sanderford, and Dan and Eula Martin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Matt Cassell, Dr. Caleb Dulaney and Meridian Oncology. Also, Dr. Paula Warren and Hattiesburg Clinic for all their dedication.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church 4415 Royal Road, Meridian, MS 39307 or Baptist Anderson Cancer Benevolent Fund in his memory.
